In 1966, Dave Hannah, a former football player from Oklahoma State University, organized a wrestling team for a ministry outreach in Japan. This was the beginning of what would become Athletes In Action (AIA).
AIA, the athletic division of Campus Crusade For Christ, International (CCC), is a recognized world leader in sport’s ministry and is capitalizing on society’s love of sports to communicate the message of God’s love and forgiveness in Jesus Christ.
Seeking to reach out to the elite athletes, AIA is active on 128 college campuses and serves 35 professional sports teams in the United States. Since 1966, AIA has grown to over 400 staff and currently has a presence in 85 countries around the world. Also, AIA sends approximately 30 competitive athletic teams around the world each summer.
AIA is committed to turning the athletic influencers into godly leaders, reaching our nation and impacting the world for God through the platform of athletics. We believe that with a society looking up to athletes as heroes, we need to find athletes who look up to God.
